Majordomo

You’ll find celebrity chef David Chang’s Majordomo restaurant tucked away in the outskirts of Chinatown LA and near the LA river. The area is considered industrial so you have a bunch of warehouses which is where Majordomo resides. A vacant warehouse that’s been nicely renovated throughout with an enormous kitchen and bar. The ambience is nice and fine dine worthy. Reservations are highly recommended and they take them up to 30 days in advance.

The menu has quite a bit to choose from and I went with the Crispy Pork Belly and the Denver Steak which is a prime grade chuck cut. I liked the Crispy Pork Belly more than the Denver Steak. The Crispy Pork Belly comes with lettuce, kohlrabi, and domojang. The pork belly was cooked perfectly where the fat was fully rendered and skin was perfectly crisp. Its best to enjoy this dish as a pork belly wrap with the sides in it for a bite that’s fatty, tender, and tasty.

The Denver Steak was decent and had some marble. The meat is smoked first and then grilled. The quality of steak was good and it was tender but nothing that blows your mind. The best part of this dish was the Thao’s greens side which had a very nice spicy kick to it!

Valet parking is available across the alley way you drive into before you arrive at the restaurant. Plenty of street parking available too if you decide to do that.

Chic-Fil-A (Spicy Chicken Sandwich) Review

It's time to blog about my favorite fast food franchise, Chic-fil-a.  I've tried just about everything on the menu and my go to is their spicy chicken sandwich with no butter and extra pickles.  The sandwich is perfectly made starting with the extra soft but warm bun to the crispy deep fried floured chicken.  The bite has a perfect ratio of chicken, bread, oil, and kick!  CFA employees are trained to cut each breast to their standards and that explains the consistency in the ratio.

Not only is their sandwich amazingly tasty but it's also decently priced for food made to order (kind of).  A spicy chicken sandwich comes in at roughly $4.39 plus tax here in SoCal.  Also, CFA is known for their exceptional service.  They're beating out their competitors by simply having their employees say, "My pleasure" instead of, "You're welcome."  It takes a little bit of getting used to but totally welcomed.

Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop (San Diego) Review

I was in San Diego for a couple of days and I had Nobu for dinner.  As some of you may know, the content and quality at Nobu is great but isn't necessarily fulfilling so I was hungry after a couple of hours.  After searching through options, I decided on Mexican Food and searched for places on yelp.

The place of choice was Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop because it had over 5,000+ review and 4 stars.  The place isn't too big at all and was decked out in lucha libre theme so that was different and kind of cool.  I really wanted a burrito so I didn't get a chance to try the tacos.  I ended up ordering the Classic California with carne asada and without sour cream.  The french fries in the burrito intrigued me.

After taking a couple of bites, I was left disappointed.  The fries didn't really add much value either.  In fact, it made the overall taste even more bland with the added carbs.  The asada tasted lightly seasoned so it wasn't too flavorful.  The only thing that saved it from being horrendous was all the salsa I added with each bite.  I only managed to get through half of it.  The photo here is what I had left of the burrito which I ended up discarding before leaving.  The review has me a little stumped.  Maybe I didn't order the right item(s).  Or maybe I should've just made the trek down into Tijuana for my Mexican fix.

Rebel Ice Cream (Keto) Review

I got my hands on a pint of Rebel ice cream a couple weeks back and it's time to review it.  I purchased this sweet snack for $4.99 plus tax at a Lassen's market.  This was the first sugary snack I‘be had during Keto and it was decent but it didn't wow me.

I purchased the peanut butter and fudge flavor and I could barely taste any traces of peanut butter and the fudge resembles chocolate chip.  The texture also requires a little bit of getting used to because of the sugar substitutes for low carbs.  When scooping the ice cream, they break off into chunks/flakes.  I’ve been told to let it sit 20 or so minutes before scooping but I didn’t notice any material changes.

Overall, it was still decent considering I haven't had any sweet snacks in a couple weeks.  The whole pint comes in at 8 grams of net carbs total which makes it Keto friendly!  I would try other brands next before trying a different flavor from Rebel.
